PC Simon Marshall joined the band the day he joined the force, 19th March 2007. Like many people, he didn't realise that you could play in the band without any formal connection to the police.
Simon's banding history is solely with Knottingley Concert Brass. Graham Dean, Simon's year 6 teacher was the conductor of Knottingley, and it was there Simon played 1st and 2nd baritone, and a few years on Bb Bass. After leaving the band in 2000 to go to University, it was not until 2007 that Simon picked up an instrument again... much to everyone's

Brian started playing Cornet at the age of seven when he joined Bentham Prize Band. He is one of the longest serving members of the West Yorkshire Police Band, starting in 1972 not long after joining the Police Force.
