Solo Horn, Assistant Musical Director - John Asquith
John started playing Trumpet at Parkinson Lane Junior School, Halifax and continued playing throughout his school life. In 1978 he joined the Army and was posted to Regimental Band of the 1st Battalion of The Prince of Wales’ Own Regiment . In 1982 he attended the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall where he studied Cornet, theory, harmony, composition and arranging. He joined The Band of the West Yorkshire Police in 1996
Second Horn - Paul Cartwright
Paul started to play the trumpet when he was 9 years old under the instruction of Geoff Merkin, and after a little while moved onto the cornet. He has played in several brass and military bands and joined the West Yorkshire Police Band shortly after becoming a Police Officer in 1990. He is currently on a career break whilst he trains to be an Anglican Priest, but continues to play Horn in the band.
